To celebrate Earth Day the Kansas Wetlands Education Center will be hosting a Biosphere Block Party on Saturday, April 13. All the events are free, but two of them require registration due to limited space. Two make-and-take rain barrel workshops beginning at 9:00 am & noon, and the workshop on making folding crafts from recycled books at 10:15. Other come-and-go activities include: Make-and-take recycled crafts, decorate-and-take reusable grocery tote bags, hand and bicycled-powered generators, make rope from plastic bottles, fun with bicycles, solar oven cookie baking, There will also be a trailer with a model of a stream bank, so visitors will be able to manipulate erosion. Families will also receive free wildflower and milkweed plants; also information on native grasses and wildflower planting will be available.
